We have a new, fresh start to a new year and that alone is a gift from the Lord. We can live a life of chaos, which many of us choose or we can live a life of blessings, which only some of us choose. It says in Matthew 7:13-14 (paraphrased) that the gate is wide and the road is broad that leads to destruction and MANY choose that way; but small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and ONLY A FEW find it. We have the option to be intentional and choose the right way that leads to a full life. Jesus said that He came to give us life, and life to the FULL (abundant) - John 10:10. He longs for us to live a happy, peaceful, bountiful, joyful life while He lavishes His unfailing love on us.
We often claim that we desire "change" but we aren't willing to do anything to make that change. If we want to see change in our lives, we have to start with changing our thinking. The best way to change our thinking is to renew our minds in God's Word (Bible) every single day. God's Word needs to permeate our hearts or we'll miss out on the amazing, abundant, life Jesus died to give us. God sent forth His Word to heal us and He rescued us from the grave (a life of chaos, destruction, defeat, apart from Him) - Psalm 107:20.
If we are not changing, then we are not growing or learning. God desires us to always be changing - drawing closer and closer to Him. This occurs by pursuing a personal, intimate relationship with Him where He teaches us how to leave our old life behind and gain a new one in HIM.
As we kick off this new year, may we all make a decision today to desire "change"......by choosing a glorious life with Jesus, reading the Bible daily while renewing our minds so that we get into agreement with God's will. This would be the WISEST "NEW, FRESH START" we could make! May it be so!
