While driving in my car earlier today and upon Valentine’s Day approaching, I saw a sign on my city’s bulletin board that advertised a “DADDY/DAUGHTER DANCE.” How sweet! This made me immediately think of my earthly father and then I thought of my heavenly Father.
I envisioned that I have been “dancing” with my heavenly Father. This dance is my life that began when He saved me. Dance partners enjoy the music, exercise, and pleasure that is associated with dancing. Typically one partner leads with the dance steps while the other follows. My heavenly Father has been leading with the most graceful dance of my life while I quite often tripped over His feet. Sometimes when He has led me, I missed the lead and moved in the wrong direction. While swaying side to side, my mind wanders and is distracted with things that are going on in my life, even when they are trivial. I end up overlooking so much of what He has for me to be blessed with during this dance. My heart uncovers hurt from something I recall and I become emotional while my heavenly Father continues to dance, holding me close. I struggle to be in control of our dance and push myself to become the lead. The music is sometimes way too fast for me and then many times it is much too slow. Either way, my heavenly Father always knows the best tempo. He whispers in my ear words of peace that displaces every bit of fear. He has taught me how to praise Him even when I trip and fall. He sings to me and reminds me of His unconditional love. The music He chooses is always relevant for that moment. I long for my steps to our dance to glorify my heavenly Father. I yearn to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord. His steps to our dance always take me where I need to go – right in His arms. He makes me feel lovely and tells me that He is enthralled by my beauty! This is a dance that will never end, even into eternity. I am a daughter of the most high God! Nothing compares to this DADDY/DAUGHTER dance.
